East Lothian Council's Local Housing Strategy (LHS) lies at the heart of efforts to address the area's housing challenges and deals with all housing issues across all housing tenures.
East Lothian Council is currently developing a new LHS for the period 2012-2017. Information on the process and how to get involved can be found on the Council's website.
The Council has a range of other plans and strategies that link to the LHS. Further information about these can be found below.

The Environment, Housing _ Places Theme Group involves a range of partners and meets regularly to monitor progress against its outcomes. The group has a wide remit, which includes the natural and built environment, housing, transport and resource use. Its long term vision is that:
East Lothian will be a place of opportunity for all, with a thriving low carbon economy, high quality environment and healthy communities that are prepared for the challenges of climate change.
The group's key strategic document is the East Lothian Environment Strategy (2010-15) which was approved by the Board in December 2010. A short summary of the strategy, which includes details on how individuals can get involved, is also available.

Following their successful Cycle Friendly School Award in September, Dunbar Primary School kindly invited us back to film a typical school run. Dunbar Primary has one of the highest rates of cycling to school in the UK, and as many as 300 bikes and scooter can be found filling up the bike racks on a school day. We were a little concerned when we arrived early on a cold and very dreich Autumn's morn but fear not; the children of Dunbar Primary School were still out in droves!
