East Lothian community planning partners share a common legal and moral obligation to work together to achieve equal opportunities and to challenge the barriers that people face arising from discrimination and disadvantage 3. The Partnership recognises that each partner can contribute to this agenda. The approach encapsulates work with specific individuals and communities with protected characteristics, fostering good relations in the community and challenging prejudicial behaviour and attitudes.
The partnership provides funding for Equalities activities, such as the work of the East Lothian Diversity Network and to maintain Disabled Go- the on-line Access Guide for East Lothian. It has also launched a new Community Planning Joint Equalities Forum, bringing together equalities officers and stakeholders from across East and Midlothian.
